Is there anything more inviting than a pot of spiced cider on the stovetop on a chilly fall night? For me, give me a cup of hot cider, some trail mix, a good movie and I am good to go! Well, I would like to take this opportunity to share with you a simple apple cider recipe that my family makes at home often.
The kids love it and adults you can give it an extra kick too if you wish. In addition, having a pot of this cider simmering on your stove will make your house smell incredible!

Simple Apple Cider Recipe
Ingredients:
5 cups apple cider
1 cinnamon stick (I like to use sticks and grind them into powder) GO HERE to see a wonderful kitchen item to use for grinding your own cinnamon and other spices. Nothing beats fresh!
1 whole clove
Orange slice ( 1 slice about 1/2 inch thick)
Lemon slice ( 1 slice about 1/2 inch thick)
Combine cider, cinnamon, clove orange and lemon slice into a saucepan. Bring to a gentle boil and cover and simmer for about 30 minutes. Strain and discard solids. Enjoy!
Adult option – Add some of your favorite Brandy to the cider when it is done simmering. Nothing warms you up quite like this on a cold fall or winter day. Also if you are battling a bad head cold or nasty flu this warm drink feels good on your throat and helps with the chills.
