Internet of Things (IoT) – Help your City

Chances are you have heard of the Internet of Things (IoT) but you have no idea what it is. I recently just discovered what it is myself. After being trained by some very knowledgable people and doing my own research, I am in complete awe at this period of time we live in. Not too mention, absolutely thrilled what the future is going to bring!

The technological advances of even the past ten years are sensational. For better or worse everything we use on a daily basis is becoming “smart”. Bikes, thermostats, water meters, vending machines, pet collars, security systems, etc. But how do these devices transfer information? How do they talk to each other?

Internet of Things (IoT) – Help Your City Be Connected To The Future

Well, one method is for individuals like us to own a personal hotspot and help our city build a wireless network. Yes, it is possible for anyone to own a hotspot and run it from your home. This is a true peer to peer wireless network, which is why it is called the people’s network.

The set-up could not be easier. Simply order your device. In about 5-10 days you will receive your hotspot at your doorstep. Follow the instructions given to you inside the box after opening. You will find that set-up is literally plugging in the device, installing the app on your phone and letting it run. Once running your hotspot will provide several square miles of coverage for any IoT device within the area.

For example, your device can help with a lost pet. Let’s say your neighbor’s dog wanders off and gets lost. Because a smart collar connects to an internet of things device, the pet can be easily located (assuming they have a smart collar).

Yet another example is micro-mobility tracking. The IoT network supports geolocating which protects assets such as bikes, scooters and even cars.

Feel good about making your city “smarter”

As a result, your city will become less dependant on wi-fi and cellular because your personal hotspot is helping connect millions of internet of things devices. Amazingly this is all done from your home! Individuals like you and I are solely responsible for running this network. Above all, we aren’t at the mercy of big telco companies anymore!

Sounds great, but what’s in it for me?

Great question! As a result of simply letting your device run and do its thing, you will receive cryptocurrency. This builds up over time and will increase as the value of the currency increases.

In addition, your hotspot used very low power. No need to worry about your electric bill or harming the environment. These hotspots only use about 5W, which is the amount of one LED light bulb.
