Ginger Tea Benefits – Start Enjoying Now!
A few years back I kept hearing how everyone was coming down with the stomach bug in our area. I didn’t (and still don’t) have time for that so I did some research on how I can prevent my body from catching this.
Now I have always heard that ginger can be good for you, but once I actually did the research I was blown away. Ginger is among the healthiest spices on earth and the vast health benefits it provides convinced me that I had to make this part of my regular diet.
First, let me give you the recipe before we get into all of the ginger tea health benefits. You are going to love that all of the other all-natural ingredients offer amazing health benefits of their own!
So here is the recipe, and it’s so simple you may even laugh at me.
- 8-12 oz of water – It all depends on how strong you want your tea
- 2 Tbsp Ginger root, chopped
- 6 leaves of fresh mint
- 1 Tbsp raw unfiltered honey
- 1 slice of lemon (squeeze the juice into the mug first)
Once all of the ingredients are prepped, simply add them to your favorite mug or thermos and pour over hot water. Once cooled down, enjoy! The longer it steeps the more flavorful everything gets.
Of course, you can play around with whatever works best with your taste. If you want it mintier add more mint, if you want more lemon flavor, add more lemons.
So we know this is easy to make and tastes delicious. Now let’s talk about the health benefits.
Ginger – This superfood can be found in any grocery store in the produce section. Ginger is known to have many positive health benefits. It can lessen the symptoms of cold and flu including nausea. Also, ginger can relieve muscle pain and reduce inflammation. Most noteworthy, ginger can even support heart health and lower your risk of cancer.
Looking for another natural remedy to prevent cold and flu?
Mint – I get my mint in the produce section at the grocery store. You can find this in bunch form usually next to the other live greens, such as cilantro, parsley, spinach, etc.
This magical herb not only enlivens various foods and drinks, but it also has many positive health benefits. For example, mint is known to relieve pain from headaches including migraines. Migraines can be miserable and ruin your whole day. Eat (or drink) some fresh mint and give yourself a chance to feel better. Mint has also been known for its cancer-fighting properties, improving memory, and of course nausea relief.
Lemon – Consuming lemon with your foods is beneficial to your health in many ways. Lemons have been known to prevent kidney stones, improve digestive health, support heart health and lower the risk of cancer. Clearly, adding lemon to your routine isn’t a bad thing!
Honey – First of all make sure you buy the raw unfiltered kind. It’s probably not going to come in the cute little bear that we’re all used to seeing, but that’s ok. Also, you will notice it is definitely more expensive, but it’s worth it. If it isn’t raw unfiltered honey, it’s probably pasteurized. This means the high heat involved with this process kills all of the valuable nutrients which for me, defeats the purpose. GO HERE to get it now!
The positive health benefits of raw unfiltered honey are many! It carries powerful antibacterial and antifungal properties. In addition, it helps with digestion, soothes sore throats and is a good source of antioxidants.
So there you have it! This is a very simple tea recipe that I enjoy almost daily during the winter months.
